I discovered photographer Byron Wolfe when he won the Santa Fe Prize in 2004 for his book "Everyday, a year-long photo diary". Since the summer of 2006 I have tried to produce my own daily photo entries.
The challenge was not only physical, but mental. Carrying the camera everywhere and forcing a picture every day not only involves some logistical planning, but it moves my thinking and watching to a level of routine practice that had been rare and impulsive.
After 3 years of this, I can still forget to take the camera with me, or forget to use it. The discipline of the process, however, has made me a much better photographer than I had been; I see much more keenly and appreciate the beauty the camera makes more intensely.
Above are some of the pictures I find most memorable from my daily work since June 22, 2007.
